Yes! The fat content of washed
crawfish tail meat is only about 1% of the
Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA). They are low in
fat and calories, but high in protein and
minerals.
Crawfish are high in vitamins
A, B6, B12, Biotin, and Niacin, and are also a
good source of calcium, phosphorus, iron and
protein. Although crawfish are high in cholesterol
(a 3 ½ ounce service of crawfish tail meat
provides about one half of the Recommended Daily
Allowance (RDA) for cholesterol by the American
Heart Association), studies have shown that blood
cholesterol levels are more affected by the
saturated fat in one’s diet than the cholesterol
one eats. In fact, crawfish have not been shown to
raise blood cholesterol levels.
Here’s an extra tidbit of
crawfish nutritional information... crawfish have
shorter muscle fibers than the muscle fibers in
red meats, so it makes them easier to digest than
their more land-dependent friends, such as the
cow.

Nutritional Statistics
In 1994, the Louisiana
Crawfish Promotion and Research Board conducted a
nutritional analysis of unwashed (fat-on) frozen
crawfish tail meat. The purpose of their research
was to develop a nutritional label that could be
used by the entire crawfish industry. Below are
the results of their research:
